My Professional Journey
Pia Chatterjee is a writer, essayist and writing teacher.
Pia has won the Ledge prize for fiction, was named the Emerging fellow at San Francisco Writer's Grotto, and was a finalist for the Bread Loaf-Rona Jaffe Foundation award. Pia was also a City Bright's blogger for the San Francisco Chronicle.
The first chapter of her novel, Freeschool Street has been published in Pen Pusher magazine and her short story, My Stalker won the Ledge prize for fiction. Pia's other writings have been published in the San Francisco Chronicle, 7X7 magazine, Fortune Magazine, India Currents, Pen Pusher, and Chicken Soup for the Indian Soul.
She has frequently appeared at Litquake in San Francisco, and attended both Tin House and Bread Loaf writers workshops.
Pia, who has a B.A. in English Literature from Oxford University and a MFA from UC Riverside, lives in San Francisco, with her husband, son and badly behaved dog. Pia conducts writing classes for at risk youth.
